Installing PHP-GTK2

Quick installation directions for multiple operating systems.

What do you want to do?

Install PHP-GTK2 to my Computer

Choose your operating System.

Windows

  1. Download PHP-GTK2 for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
        php-gtk-2.0.1-win32-nts.zip (32 bit).
  2. Extract contents of the ZIP file to "C:\Program Files", it will create a new directory there called "php-gtk2".
  3. First time you run a PHP-GTK2 application (files ending in .phpg), right click it and choose "Open With" or "Open" if it is the only choice. Then use the Open With dialog to browse to "C:\Program Files\php-gtk2" and choose php-win.exe. Also mark the checkbox that asks "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5

  1. Download PHP-GTK2 for Mac OS.
        PHP-GTK-2.0.0.dmg (Intel).
  2. Open DMG (mount it).
  3. Run the installer inside.

Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)
Ubuntu Linux 8.04 (Hardy Heron)

  1. Add deb.orangearchive.net to your list of repositories. (Pick the right one for your system)
    • deb http://deb.orangearchive.net/ gutsy main
    • deb http://deb.orangearchive.net/ hardy main
  2. After adding the repository the package php5-gtk2 will be available in Synaptic after refreshing the list, as well as apt-get.
  3. Proceed to the "Configuring PHP for GTK" tutorial.

Linux (Distro Neutral)

  1. Download PHP-GTK2 Universal Unix Installer.
        php-gtk2-2.0.0-gtk2.12-linux.tar.bz2 (32 bit).
  2. Run the installer. Proceed to the "Using the Universial Unix Installer" tutorial if you would like a graphical walk through.
